History of Silicon Valley

May 27, 2013 Written by

Excellent PBS documentary on the birth of the high-tech/computer industry in Silicon Valley. Back in 1957, eight of the country's most talented scientists & engineers led by Robert Noyce defected from Shockley Semiconductor Laboratory to create Fairchild Semiconductor.  From vacuum tubes to integrated circuits and microprocessors, see how these individuals spawned companies like Intel, National Semiconductor, AMD - which led to Apple, Yahoo, Google and today's newest venture capital startups.

Watch Silicon Valley on PBS. See more from American Experience.
